Feels like forever but was only Wednesday when the first beta users rolled in. Here's what we've learned so far:
The Good 😊
Whilst we only got 14 folks so far, it was enough for us to get useful feedback and requests. For example, wanting to be able to set a goal for the next day or send pic in chat (thanks Yasmin!) Or being able to set notifications for daily goals (gracias Luchin!)
Rather than just operating from assumptions, we're now on solid ground with actual users which is so helpful... plus seeing the handful of folks use the service and give positive feedback is definitely motivating.
The Bad 😬
Well, we also realized there's confusion in our UI.
Many folks accidentally submitted results immediately after setting first goals. Others didn't know they could see prior days (for example to be able to clone daily goals to save time). Also people entered longer term goals in daily section and vice versa etc... yikes!
Work to be done...
The Ugly 😱
We also launched with a pretty catastrophic bug, where if they went to the Milestone or Journey section first it would crash and show a blank screen, and not able to recover even after reload. Was fixed quickly but don't know how many folks dropped off early due to this...
Anyway, whilst buggy and cringy, overall we're still glad to have started the beta when we did. As our development mentor Jeremy reminded us "If you're not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you've launched too late" ...
So to this new week we go- UIs to improve, bugs to fix, mobile apps to submit and more. Let's roll...
